Work
The Economic Security Project (ESP) advocates for ideas that build economic power for all Americans. Their research and programs can be wonky, and it’s important to ESP for their work to be accessible and digestible to a wide range of audiences. When they need support breathing life into their research, ESP turns to Teal.
Teal is a long-term creative partner for ESP. We serve as an extension of ESP’s communications team, producing creative assets that help them disseminate their products and build awareness of their brand. Together, we create everything from reports and microsites, to illustrations, animations, visual identities, event branding and more.
ESP counts on Teal to produce creative solutions that meet big moments and break through the noise and churn of the daily news cycle. Regardless of the type of product we’re producing, we ensure that ESP’s communications materials reflect the transformative, big-picture nature of their mission and vision.
Teal regularly partners with ESP to bring dense, text-heavy reports to life on the screen with compelling visuals and accessible data visualizations. Our report designs build on the ESP core brand and leverage ESP’s human-centered imagery and brand elements to break down complex policy topics into simple, digestible parts.
We also take inspiration from outside the ESP brand! Inspired by Richard Scarry’s “Busytown”video game, we created a roadmap illustration that chronicles the progress made within the anti-monopoly movement. “Little touches” like this help readers pull out the main points and can break up the walls of text that are so often a core part of research reports.
“Bold New Consensus” is a signature ESP event. The event celebrates the progress ESP has made to date, while also laying out the challenge for what it will take to make our economy work for all Americans moving forward.
Teal partnered with ESP to create a new visual identity for the 2023 version of the conference. This convening of the brightest and boldest thought leaders of today needed a bold and innovative brand to match the tone and personality of the key players.
The visual identity that we created is rooted in dynamic, geometric arrow. The elements represent communities charting their economic path forward, together. Typography provides a loud and contrasting note through thick and narrow type families. Based on our new visual identity, Teal also created the conference merch, signage, and take-away materials that were distributed at the event.
